About Us

ASATREM has participated to the TACIS project “Technical assistance to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan with respect to their global climate change commitments”. It aimed at assisting the Central Asian countries to fulfil their obligations in respect to the United Nation Framework Convention of Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Kyoto Protocol (KP). Task 6 of the project aimed at enhancing economic modelling capacity in Kazakhstan. For this 30-month 4.5 M€ project Mr. Tosato has spent several weeks in Almaty and Astana training a team of Kazakh experts. At the completion of the project (September 2006) Dr. Tosato delivered the final report “Energy system and CO2 emission scenarios for Kazakhstan, prepared with the technical economic MARKAL-MACRO modelling tool”; the full text of the report is downloadable from http://www.sofreco.com/projets/c886/Reports.htm. In the Balkans ASATREM has cooperated to the training of local experts in the evaluation of possible long term developments of local energy markets in a project financed by USAID.

ASATREM participates to EC funded research projects with important companies and organizations. The company has participated to the initial formulation of the NEEDS project ((New Energy Externality for Development and Sustainability). Presently ASATREM is responsible for the preparition of energy scenarios in the REACCESS project (Risk of Energy Availability: Common Corridors for Europe Supply Security; January 2008 – December 2010) for the integrated analyses of the energy corridors that supply energy to Europe. ASATREM participate as well to the REALISEGRID project (REseArch, methodoLogIes and technologieS for the effective development of pan-European key GRID infrastructures to support the achievement of a reliable, competitive and sustainable electricity supply) that started in September 2008 (duration: 30 months).

ASATREM provides consultancy through its founder, Mr. GianCarlo TOSATO, and the external support of junior researchers, among which Eng. Maurizio Gargiulo.
